The “Latin America in three years” scheme, taken apart

A recurring package promises a Latin American citizenship in a short number of years, based on a residence obtained quickly and naturalisation at the earliest statutory moment. Every component is real. The assembly is not.

What is real

• Several countries in the region do have short statutory naturalisation periods.
• Residence is genuinely obtainable in several of them on modest requirements.
• The documents produced at the residence stage are genuine documents.

What is not

• That the residence period runs without residing. Every one of these countries assesses actual presence at the naturalisation stage, and several require continuous residence with limited absences. A client who obtained a card and left has not started the clock in any meaningful sense.
• That naturalisation is administrative. In several of these countries it is decided by a court, with a language and civics examination and an assessment of integration.
• That processing takes the statutory minimum. Backlogs in the region are measured in years.
• That the package includes the citizenship. Read the contract: it almost always covers the residence, and the citizenship is described as an expected consequence rather than a deliverable.

The border-run variant

A version of this involves maintaining status by leaving and re-entering periodically rather than by living there. It produces a valid card and no accumulated residence, and it is precisely the pattern that naturalisation authorities look for. Border records are the evidence, and they are complete.

What the client is left with

A genuine residence card in a country they do not live in, several years of fees, and a naturalisation application that will be refused on presence. By the time that is discovered the provider has performed the contract as written.

The honest alternative

If a Latin American citizenship is the objective, choose one country, move there, learn Spanish or Portuguese, and apply at the end of a period you actually spent in it. The statutory periods really are short by world standards, and the route really does work — for people who use it as it was written.
