Dubai gold walkway: Dubai Gold District will open a 24-carat gold path in Deira before the end of 2026
Dubai Gold District says it will open what it calls the world’s first and longest 24-carat gold walkway in Deira within two months. Wholesale gold firms in the district are up 20% since January. What it means for old Dubai.
Dubai will get a walkway made of 24-carat gold before the end of 2026. Dubai Gold District, the gold quarter in Deira that opened in January 2026, announced on 24 October that it expects to open the path within two months. Rashid Al Harmoodi, its senior director of commercial, gave the timeline; length and cost have not been disclosed.
It reads like a gimmick, but it sits inside a serious regeneration programme for old Dubai. Here is what is known and why it matters for the district.
What is Dubai Gold District?
It is a gold and jewellery quarter in Deira built around the historic Gold Souk. It is developed by Ithra Dubai, part of the Investment Corporation of Dubai group, and was officially launched in January 2026.

The aim is to put the whole value chain in one place: retailers, jewellery houses, bullion traders and investors. More than 1,000 shops trade there in gold, jewellery and perfume.
What will the gold walkway look like?
The district describes it as the world's first and longest 24-carat gold walkway. Its length, the amount of gold and the exact location have not been published. Opening is promised within two months of the announcement, which places it before the end of the year.
In January the district also announced a "Gold Street" as part of the Gold Souk redevelopment. Whether the walkway is part of that project has not been confirmed.
Is business in the district growing?
According to Al Harmoodi, the number of wholesale gold trading companies operating in the district has risen by 20% since the start of 2026. That is the figure that matters: the walkway is a shop window, while wholesalers mean office and storage leases, jobs and demand for housing nearby.
What does it mean for Deira property?
Deira is one of Dubai's most affordable districts, with older stock and high rental yields. New attractions and a growing trading cluster bring footfall and demand for commercial space. The effect on homes is slower and local: buildings within walking distance of the souk and the metro benefit first.
The district's constraints remain: dense streets, limited parking and older buildings. Our Deira area guide covers prices, rents and what to check before buying.
